I bought two of these for gifts for family because they were affordable. When I got them I was delighted to find that the quality of pictures shown was very very good. I have a 10 inch frame by Samson and this Kodak one is a better quailty. I love how it is set up, VERY easy to use, simply plug it in and push play. I would recomend getting a seperate memory card to use with it as it doens’t have much of it’s own memory. The cord plugs into the bottom of the frame and it sits up very nicly on it’s own. I’ve been resistant about buying a digital picture frame for a while because I really didn’t want to play the memory card swapping game each time I wanted to get photos onto my device. For me, this photo-frame offers the perfect solution – wi-fi. Yes, you can upload photos using your memory card, or a USB thumb drive. However, you can connect this picture frame to a wi-fi network and get all your pictures that way – very easily.
First, you set up your picture frame and register it with a Kodak web site. Kodak even lets you set up an email address so you can send photos to the frame over email – very cool when you want to get photos there from a picture phone. You can upload photos from any computer, your Kodak galleries, and tie the frame to your Facebook Account. Warning – if you link to your Facebook account, any picture that anyone tags with your name will automatically download. I’m a gadget type of guy and I’ve had my eye on these digital photo albums for quite some time. The early models had small screens and looked more like an electronic device and not a real picture frame. I got some cash for Christmas, saw this Kodak M1020 frame and decided to go for it.
It is very easy to use and the display is bright and sharp. The device offers several options for loading photos… USB cable to load built-in memory via computer, USB flash drive, and various common format flash memory cards. The menu interface is unusual and does take a little getting used to, but I’m glad it is not a touch screen. I’d rather use a quirky interface touching the outer frame when needed rather than have to remove finger prints from the screen every time I change the settings. A remote would have been a better option – but this model does not have one. I use the feature to turn the frame off and on at specified times (why display photos all night long). I managed to get the music feature to work – but doubt I’ll use it. Read more...
